TCS graduate Accepted in Prestigious University

Pedro Solorzano, a TCS alumni, was accepted in the IE of Madrid after he dropped out of “La Escuela” here in Medellin to pursue his dreams in Europe

The Instituto de Empresas (IE) is a very prestigious university, and aside from having a low acceptance rate, it is highly unknown in the TCS community. Solorzano is one of the first students of our school to go to this college; an institution so professional that made him change his career path from engineering to business administration.

“I didn’t like my university in Medellin, it was like going back to school all over again… Instead of fighting with it, I tried to look for other college options and was lucky to find the IE; it had everything I was looking for.” Solorzano said.

Many students of the school have no idea where they want to study, and at the end, they take the easy route which is staying in their hometown, Medellin. Solorzano gives his example as a guide to all TCS future graduates, to seek for new experiences and opportunities in other parts of the world.

“I’m very proud of my brother, all of his efforts in school paid out… he is going to an amazing university that will give him a lot of opportunities in the future, and that’s no coincidence; he worked hard to get there.” Agustin Solorzano, Pedro’s twin, said.

Solorzano, like it was priorly stated, is one of the very few students to go to this university, and no wonder why; IE was ranked first in the world for executive MBA programs, first in the world for online MBA programs, and third in the world for masters in finance.

“I feel very happy for Pedro… If you have the opportunity to study abroad you should take it as it contributes to your personal growth, and it is an amazing experience.” Felipe Naranjo, TCS teacher, said.

TCS students should take the opportunity to study abroad. Like Mr. Naranjo says, “it is an awesome experience.” The sole experience of living alone, and studying in another country, molds a person into a global citizen; and isn’t that the school’s ultimate goal?

“I’m very grateful for studying at the Columbus School. It gave me all the tools I needed to get accepted at this amazing university, and it will surely give them to [TCS Students] you too.” P. Solorzano said.
