  • The NHS group at our high school is putting together candy grams and serenades for all the students. Its a tradition during Valentines Day week where NHS students make candygrams and sell them so anyone can give them to whoever they want. Serenades are also a long-standing tradition here. We enjoy doing this. Its hilarious to see how people react when they receive candygrams and serenades from someone unexpected, Eva Morales, one of the NHS participants, said.

A day in the life of EAFIT

A+day+in+the+life+of+EAFIT

EAFIT University, one of the most recognized Medellin institutions, serves as a nest for academic excellence. For students like Jacobo Mendez and Pedro Barrera, studying at EAFIT is more than just attending classes and getting their diploma, it’s also about enjoying the privileges the campus and the university as a whole offer.

Morning through night, students like Jacobo Mendez and Pedro Barrera, embark on a journey filled with interesting classes and academics. Additional to extracurricular pursuits. Through their experiences, they navigate the immense opportunities that come with being part of EAFIT. They do so by engaging in the amazing clubs, and classes amongst other factors offered by the university.

Pedro Barrera starts his day with his engineering classes.

“A typical day as an engineering student at EAFIT usually starts early for me,” Pedro Barrera, said. “After waking up, I like to grab a quick breakfast and maybe a cup of coffee to start my day,” Barrera mentioned.

For Jacobo Mendez, managing time between classes, studying, and extracurricular activities is crucial.

“Managing time is key, especially with the demanding workload of business courses,” Jacobo Mendez, said.

Despite the challenges, students like Jacobo, provide insights on how they tackle their academic responsibilities with determination and resilience.

“I try to stay organized by using a planner or digital calendar to keep track of my commitments,” Mendez said.

On the other hand, EAFIT is also filled with students that engage in research projects, and take advantage of the different areas within the university. Pedro Barrera is a clear example.

“The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center was like a hub of creativity and ambition. The support and resources available were amazing, and it really sparked my entrepreneurial spirit. I now even have my own cookie business.” Barrera said.

Students therefore contribute to the university’s culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Beyond academics, EAFIT also fosters a sense of community where students forge lifelong connections and friendships. Jacobo touches deeper on the topic and mentions how:

“The campus atmosphere can vary throughout the day. For instance, during breaks between classes, you’ll often find students in the student center or outdoor seating areas to socialize or study,” Mendez said.

Moreover, he mentioned how the student clubs play a big part in the social aspect.

“Clubs like ‘Mercafit’, ‘GPG’, ‘Tutores’ amongst others play a big part in contributing to your friend groups. Each club has its own office and there you will find people hanging out in between classes as well,” Mendez said.

These moments of connection enrich the student experience and create long-lasting memories.

As Jacobo aptly summarizes, “Studying at EAFIT isn’t just about attending classes, it’s about learning, experimenting growth, and exploring your multiple interests thanks to the opportunities the university offers,” Mendez said.

In the words of Pedro, “EAFIT isn’t just a university, it’s a community, where students come together to pursue their dreams and shape their futures,” Barrera said.

As each day unfolds, new opportunities, challenges, learnings, laughter, and experiences await.
