La Guajira is a very beautiful place, but it’s also very poor and is very polluted, this is a reason why water here is very inaccessible. Plastic is one of the main reasons why this water is contaminated and not suitable for use. This has to stop. A solution could be recycling, and providing places to throw garbage. This would help a lot, but it may not be enough, because there’s an important coal mine (Cerrejón) which is polluting the environment and water as well. They also waste it a lot, so they need to stop doing this. There’s a lot of contaminated water in La Guajira, not allowing for people to consume it. We can help stop this by recycling plastic so it doesn’t pollute water sources, and we need to make Cerrejón reduce contamination by having the government regulate the contaminants they use.
