  • The NHS group at our high school is putting together candy grams and serenades for all the students. Its a tradition during Valentines Day week where NHS students make candygrams and sell them so anyone can give them to whoever they want. Serenades are also a long-standing tradition here. We enjoy doing this. Its hilarious to see how people react when they receive candygrams and serenades from someone unexpected, Eva Morales, one of the NHS participants, said.

Cooking Extracurricular At The Elementary Columbus School

The Columbus School is known for its wide range of extracurriculars such as the cooking program that has been implemented since 2018 igniting passion and learning for our student chefs.
Through engaging activities and hands-on experiences, students will dive into the exciting world of food. They’ll learn many cooking techniques, discover diverse flavors, and collaborate with their classmates to create delicious dishes. This fabulous extracurricular will bring new passions and skills to The Columbus School.
Juanmartin an elementary student expressed his interest in maybe joining this new extracurricular he said “There is nothing I love more than food, so cooking classes could be fun and is something of my interest”.
Cooking extracurricular will not only entertain and bring joy to The Columbus School students but It will also teach them many life lessons that might even Impact the students’ performance in school.
Veronica Urdaneta gave her opinion about the importance of cooking classes and how they could impact a student’s overall life. “From measuring ingredients to following instructions, cooking fosters valuable skills like problem-solving, teamwork, and following directions so I see how these cooking classes could be beneficial for students academically and socially”.
The Cooking Extracurricular is open to students in elementary. The program will be led by an organization specializing in teaching kids and students about the diverse world of cooking.
“We are thrilled to offer this exciting program to our elementary students,” said Johan. “Cooking is more than just preparing food; it’s a journey of discovery, creativity, and community building. We believe this program will provide our students with valuable skills and experiences that will stay with them for life.”
The cooking classes will experiment and discover foods from all around the globe, teaching its students a little about different cultures and good health habits.
Johan also said, “The purpose behind extracurriculars is to help students connect with their passion and that is what the cooking extracurricular has been doing since 2018 with over 16 students joining per semester.”
