Piedrahita rocks the podium!

TCS 11th Grader M. Piedrahita stands on the podium with the gold and bronze medalists at the ASU Games in Asuncion, Paraguay on October 9.

Martina Piedrahita, Grade 11, won a silver medal in Water Skiing Jump Category at the Juegos Suramericanos 2022 in Paraguay.

The games were hosted between October 7-9 at the Costanera Padre Bolik in the city of Encarnación, Paraguay. Piedrahita won silver with a 24.4 m jump but was defeated by World Champion Valentina Gonzalez from Chile with a 30.0 m jump.

“My process to achieve this goal was training hard, focusing on myself and what I wanted to improve. Everyone on the team had preparation months before the competition, we all came with our best attitude,” Martina Piedrahita, Grade 11, said. 

The games are part of the Ciclo-Olimpico. The Colombian team was represented by 6 water skiing and wakeboard. Piedrahita’s category had 10 participants without an age limit. 

“This tournament is part of the Ciclo Olimpico and this is my first time being part of it since to enter a Ciclo Olimpico athletes need to train really hard and have a lot of dedication,” Piedrahita said.
