Christmas at TCS has New Guests

Last Saturday, December 9th, The Columbus School students had the opportunity to share a day, and celebrate Christmas with kids with low resources.

Approximately 400 kids from various institutions and foundations arrived to TCS looking forward to an amazing day. Understudies from the school and from other schools and universities had the opportunity so sign up as a volunteer, their job could be either as team leader or supervise a game.

“I loved to see Columbus School students so excited for this event, the kids were extremely glad and thankful, everything turned out as it was arranged. They were 146 students signed up and 100 sponsored christmas gifts,” said 11th grader Eliana Lopez, event staff member.

TSC students, teachers and outside school volunteers could contribute in different ways for the realization of this event. They could either be a volunteer or sponsor a gift or both. Volunteers had different jobs assigned, some lead a 4-5 group of kids through all the different bases and had fun playing with them, others explained and cheered the games to the kids and others were in charge of food and logistics.

“In the event we had different games and activities for kids of every age, we had kids from 3 to 20 years old. We played musical chairs, volleyball, team activities, inflatable games, and a lot more, they were having a nice time,” said Mary Luz Meza, event manager.

They also had a kids presentation, they had different singers and musicians including Jaycob Duque a reggaeton artist, food and gifts. Weeks before the event, the kids wrote a letter to santa thanking him for everything and telling him what they wanted for christmas their request varied in prices, it went all the way from food to an mp3 recorder. Some of these letters were sponsored by TCS and foundation money, 100 were supported by different teachers and students.

“I had a great time today, we danced and played outside, I am thankful to all the people that helped organize this event, to the ones who spend this incredible day by mi side and to the person who gave me my christmas giftc” said sixteen year old Fundación Casa de la Chinca.
