Apple Music or Spotify the Relentless War Between Services

There are many music streaming services to choose from, but it all goes down for the two main competitors for the first place, Spotify and Apple Music. As these two companies give consumer special benefits to see which one wins total dominance, we consumers decide which one wins.

Both streaming services provide what many users want, to listen to the music they like, create playlist and being able to see what music are their friends listening to. Both platforms do these same things at the same price, but overall Apple Music gives its customers many more benefits at the same price.

Apple Music was launched on June 30, 2015, and available for more than 100 countries worldwide. It is a music and video streaming service developed by Apple and available for many platforms. Users select music to play on to their device or they can listen to existing playlists. Apart for the music streaming they include the radio station provided by Beats 1, which broadcasts 24 hours a day. Apple Music and Spotify are the dominant companies in the streaming music industry. Spotify has 75 million paid subscribers with 170 million free users. Apple recently got to 40 million subscribers. Both companies are successful with consumers. But, each company is structured to an specific type of consumer. Overall, Apple Music gives their customers more benefits than just listening to music, you can listen to radio stations, watch music videos, see interviews with your favorite artists, and search songs by lyrics.

Both services offer an individual $9.99 per month subscription, family plans subscriptions that cover up to six people for $14.99 per month, and student plans for $4.99 per month. Given that Apple gives each subscriber three months of free Apple Music, the service could be growing against Spotify. Apple Music does not have a free subscription with the requirement of watching ads like Spotify, which is a big reason why they were able to obtain many free users in the first place. Pricewise both streaming music platforms are the same, but Apple’s service has around 40 million songs, surpassing Spotify´s statement of “more than 30 million”.

Apple Music has been integrated into other Apple related products. Both streaming applications are on any type of phone and laptop, Apple has their own exclusive music reproduction on certain Apple products, the same way Spotify can be listen to in an PS4 or Xbox. Any music you have, whether purchased through the iTunes Store or taken from a physical CD, it will appear in your Apple Music library, giving you the option to explore your own music along with Apple’s standard songs. Not only that, but Apple Music has integrated the voice assistant Siri, to play any type of playlist, song, music video or interview. Apple Music unique feature of smart playlist dominates the streaming music market. Standard playlists are created manually and are not automatically updated as your library changes, Smart Playlists are created based on rules you set up, and are automatically updated as your library changes. Adding to, with Apple Music you can vinculate your Apple watch, Apple TV, and an Apple HomePod.

If you like music, Spotify will work for your music streaming needs. But if you want a more profound experience at the same price, Apple Music does a better job of communicating music among peers, listening to radio, watch music videos  and interviews, and being able to connect you music to other devices.
