The End of the F**king World is a recent Netflix series with 8 episodes. The series is pretty strange, but its cast is amazing. The most important part is how a real love story began in between two strange kids. I love this series, the sound effects were amazing, but the best part was the characters.

Alyssa played by Jessica Barden, and James, played by Alex Lawther, became close friends after killing a child molester in self defence. Alyssa and James relationship was pretty complicated, but since they met there was a bond in between them. Alyssa fell immediately in love with him, meanwhile he was bit creepy with her, until he saved Alyssa’s live. In that moment they saw both of them needed each other.

A series called Black Mirror is also pretty strange. The episodes don’t make sense, because  one episode ends and the next starts with a completely different story. Both are completely different, making it awkward or strange as this series did, the only difference was that The End of the F**king World, continued with the story, meanwhile Black mirror had.

The only negative part of the series is that it’s only 8 chapters. The end is not that interesting, the audience never learns what happens to them. In the final scene,  you observe James running and Alyssa screaming to him to come back. Finally you hear a shot and everything gets black.

The detectives in charge of chasing James and Alyssa, DC Teri, played by Wunmi Mosaku and DC Enince, played by Gemma Whelan don’t appear very much so lose their importance in the plot. They knew things about both kids that no one else knew. It would have been better if they had the chance to talk to both James and Alyssa face to face more often.

The characters a well developed. James’ personality was rare, he thought he didn’t have feelings but when he met Alyssa everything changed. This series is similar to the movie Warm Bodies because in both, the protagonists first had no feeling and meeting a special girl made them realise that they did.

The series has great audio. The sound effects were excellent.  The mystery bullet fired at the end of Episode 8 ends with a black screen and the only the sound of the gunshot. This makes the audience believe they killed James.

They had a great imagination on creating an interesting and catchy story. For example when Alyssa father called the cops so they could catch them, James admitted he commited the crime. This is similar to War Dogs where the secret gun dealer became an undercover cop to help  capture both protagonist.

The series is organized on a chronological order, but still there is only one flashback on the series, where it shows an enormous problem, that changed drastically James’ life. Showing one sad parts of the series, James mother suicide in front of him, in that moment he knew he was not going to be the same normal kid.

This series was great and I recommend to everyone, but still be careful because it has violent disturbing scenes, but in spite of that, it is still worth your time.
