Basketball 8th graders passing to high school team
Eighth graders from the middle school basketball team will be passing to the high school team this next 2019-2020 school year.
The 8th grade graduation is something that comes with many changes, passing from one school to another and passing to a new team. Basketball 8th grade players will be going through that this next school year. Some of the players have been playing for a long time but they are still really nervous about the change.
“I started playing when I was in second grade, since i was very little, I stopped for awhile and I started again in 5th grade,” Barbara Correa, 8th grade girls basketball player, said.
Since the change from middle school to high school is really challenging a lot of the times what coaches will do is ask the 8th graders to start training with the high school team in April- May of the year before for they to start getting the hang of it.
“I am really excited to pass to the high school team, I really like my teammates as well as my coach, I feel I have learned lot in the last few weeks i’ve been training with them and I can’t wait to see how much more I will improve in the next years,” Correa, said.
Even though it is really exciting to play with a new team, the players still are a little nervous because adjusting to a new team is always a little nerve racking.
“What I am most nervous about is maybe not playing as much as I am used to also not feeling as well of a connection with my new teammates,” Mateo Zárate, 8th grade boys basketball player, said.
At the end of the day life is about getting to live new experiences and everything depends on how you react to them, positively or negatively.
“ I am really enthusiastic about this new team with David Lopez, the coach, I feel a can learn a lot more, I feel people on this team are more serious and I really like their vibe,” Correa, said.
