Dial 3 Survivor

Dial 3: one of the most awaited games in PE, changed from fun to frightening in the blink of an eye. What seemed like a friendly school game ended up with 2 broken ligaments and a future surgery.

Dial 3 is a football like game where you need to put the ball into your opponent’s hoop without getting your flag taken out of your pants. Gregorio Lince and Juan Pablo Angel are Columbus School juniors and they were enjoying this game in PE on September 7 2017. The game took a major setback when Lince and Angel started having an argument and  in seconds, Angel was throwing himself atLince. All of Lince’s body support was on his right leg which led to a crack sound.

“ I have a friend who tends to get really aggressive when playing this sport,” said Lince.

People can get competitive while playing games, but the question is: to what extreme will someone take it?  Dial 3 is known for being a game where students get really hyped-up, and sometimes this can lead to misunderstandings.

“I knew Gregorio was wrong, so I decided to take one for the team and tackle him,” said  Angel.

Lince was just trying to talk the issue trough with Angel, however, Angel decided to take matters into his own hands and tackle Lince.

“While he tackled me I heard a crack and I fell to the floor gasping in pain,” said Lince.

The PE teacher (Urbano Mesa) had to call the nurse’s office, and Lince was immediately taken there. Lince was breathing heavily and screaming in pain. Later on, they called his mom and she took him straight to the hospital. Lince stated that he felt like he was going to pass out. A while later, Lince got X-rays which revealed the significance of the injury.

“It was revealed that I had broken 2 ligaments. From the instance that I fell to the floor, I knew something was wrong,” said Lince.

Lince is now recovering from his injury, and he and Angel are still very close friends. There is no resentment. However, in the future Lince will need to have surgery.

“I knew Dial 3 was rough.. But not that rough,” said Lince.
