Columbus School K5 classes celebrated Grandparents Day on September 22nd,  the students prepared a show where they sang, shared snacks and gave them picture frames as gifts.

Grandparents’ day is celebrated by children in K4, K5 and 1st grade. For the classes in K5, a show was prepared that included six songs both in English and in Spanish. The day was filled with activities and concluded early to allow the students to spend  the rest of their day with their families.

“ This is a really special day for kids because they get to spend the day with their grandparents, showing them around school and sharing their daily life with them,” Veronica Angel, K5F teacher, said

Kids prepared weeks in advance by making gifts and planning the show for their grandparents. The gifts  included cards of invitation and picture frames. They presented songs that they rehearsed in music and in Spanish class.

“ My favorite part of the day was singing the songs,” Luciana Alzate, K5 student, said.

During the day and between activities, both students and grandparents were able to enjoy a variety of snacks prepared for the event.

“ One of the things I liked the most was the strawberries with chocolate,”  Camilo Tobar, K5E student, said.

Grandparents were able to enjoy a day that was filled with activities with their grandchildren.

“ I was charmed to attend the event, the children were beautiful, the songs and the poems were very nice. We were delighted to spend time with our grandchildren in their school environment,” Joshua Libreros, grandparent, stated.
