Red Dead Redemption II Review

2018 Best Game nomination, Red Dead Redemption 2, is a game that has exceeded all standards in all aspects. Gameplay, graphics, realism, and story are details that this Wild West video game has to offer.

Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 is the third game of the Red Dead franchise and a prequel to the original Red Dead Redemption. This game has many aspects that make you want to play until you burn your console out. Although, Red Dead Redemption 2 lacks of a very important detail that makes the game not worth your money and time.

The graphics on this game are at the top of the chain within other games released this year. The screen just seems as a window to the western united states where you can explore an entire open world with great level of playbility and realism. The level of realism is astonishing. The lightning, grass, levolutions and animations, all seem just like if someone had travel to 1899 and taken a video of how everything was back in the day. This graphic quality compared with other games released this year such as Far Cry 5, Spiderman, or God of War, are not even close to the graphic quality that Red Dead Redemption can offer.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is based on a fictional setting of the Western United States during 1899. This story protagonist, Arthur Morgan, is an outlaw member of the “Van der Linde” who needs to survive the decline of the wild west and the government forces. This game gives nostalgic memories of the 2010 Red Dead Redemption, which takes place just after the events of Red Dead Redemption 2. The story that surrounds both games is the same. But the game has many other side stories that make the game more interesting and develop a better point of view towards how everything was at the time. This game can work as a time machine to the wild west where you can understand how difficult and stressful everything was.

Although all the aspects of story, graphics and playability. There is something the game has a huge lack of and it is lack of fun you have when playing. This is the biggest mistake that the developers made when making the game. They focused more on the visual and the story and made a wonderful job. But left a side what every gamer is looking for and it is to enjoy the game. In comparison with other games developed by Rockstar such as Red Dead Redemption or Grand Theft Auto, the story is great and is very enjoyable. Similar happens with other games released this year such as God of War or Spiderman, which are games focused on having fun while gaming and interacting with the environment. Red Dead Redemption 2 has the highest graphic quality and scenario development.

Red Dead Redemption has a great story and great characters. But it is as boring as you can’t play for longer than 30 minutes without anything fun happening. It is like watching a movie with incredible story but with terrible actors. You can’t enjoy the other aspects if the game doesn’t provide you with the enjoyment you can get with an open world game

Should you buy the game? There are many aspects that you should consider when buying a game. But most importantly it is based on what you want to get from it. If you want a game with a very well crafted story about the 1899 wild west with awesome graphics that make your jaw drop, you should definitely buy it. But if you want to enjoy your gaming time with very fun gameplay time and in game missions, I think you should probably look out for another title.
