Paul Navarra was chosen as HS new principal on March 14 after a rigorous process in which the junta directiva determined the final candidate based on leadership, experience and commitment.

Navarra, who has been serving as HS vice-principal for the last year and a half, looks forward to continuing the positive momentum and improvements that have been made in recent years. After a 20 year journey at TCS, High School Principal Juan David López has decided to embark on a new journey in his career by becoming the new Middle and High School Principal at the American School Foundation in Monterrey, Mexico.

“He (Navarra) will be a great principal, he is a very professional person and will surely give the best to the school,” López said.

The selection process for the new HS principal involved a diverse range of stakeholders, each with different perspectives on what qualities the ideal candidate should possess. These included a group of parents, students, teacher leaders, department chairs,  leadership team and the board members.

“I really appreciate all the hard work putten into the selection, it was a really long but thermal process and at the end I was chosen,” Navarra said.

As HS new principal, Navarra prioritizes the increase of academic and behavioral rigor in order to maintain the trajectory set by Lopez.

“We have a great team and great students, it’s just a matter of continuing to work on our improvements,” Navarra said.

Navarra has admired Juan David’s leadership and considers him a role model. Since arriving at the school over a year ago, Navarra has learned valuable lessons from him, which have helped him grow into becoming the new HS principal.

“I’ve learned so much from him (Juan David), all of his capabilities have been very useful in my role as vice president,” Navarra said.

Trust was seen as a significant factor that influenced the decision-making process. Having somebody who already worked at school and knew the challenges needed in order to improve in every aspect was some of the many assets Navarra brought to the table.

“Your ability to communicate, to connect with people, to be compassionate but also the rigors of keeping a balance are key not only for an HS principal but for any leader,” López said.

Navarra’s vision for HS is one of excellence and inclusivity. He is committed to building a school culture that fosters growth, learning, and community. As the new principal, he is poised to lead the school toward a bright and successful future.

“I feel loved by the whole school community, for me it is a privilege to become the new High School Principal,” Navarra said.
