One Teacher Giving Class in Middle and High

A new teaching opportunity was presented in TCS where tenth and twelve-grade English teacher Andrew Ambron was offered to teach both middle school and high school.

Ambron will begin teaching eighth grade at the beginning of August next to two or three other teachers and will continue teaching tenth grade next to someone else. He asked if he could switch to 12th grade for eighth grade once he found out that there was a teaching opportunity in both middle school and high school, both grade levels are exciting due to their academic development.

“So my first two years teaching in Indonesia I taught seventh and 8th grade; I thought Middle School was an age that I did not like to teach because it would not be very academic and the kids are immature,” Andrew Ambron a tenth grade teacher said. “Little did I know middle school kids have a great balance and a ton of academic potential but also still a lot of like genuine innocence that makes them fun to teach,” said Ambron.

Many might think that he will have a specific classroom but this is not true. Mr. Ambron will be teaching in Emily Butterworth’s classroom when he teaches high school, and when he is in middle school, he will be rotating classes with the other teachers.

“I believe what will happen is when I am teaching in high school I will be in Butters´ room and then when teaching middle school, what they will be doing is reserving a few rooms specifically to be like English rooms, and then the teachers will rotate in and out,” said Ambron.

This change is not because the school is lacking budget, it is mainly because the school is growing in many different aspects and reducing the number of teachers per department was their way to go, which is why teachers like him will be working in both schools.

“The school’s population is growing, every department at some point over the next couple of years is going to have teachers who teach on middle school and high school,” said Roger Arabi the high school vice principal.

Teachers have appreciated plenty this opportunity given to them and that way the have the change to control both grades and feel the difference ambience on them, were they acn later on focus on the one they prefer.

“This is something that asked to do because I enjoy teaching tenth grade and I enjoyed teaching Middle School when I had the opportunity in the past,” Ambron added.
