NHS students were forced to come on Seniors Skip day

APRIL 16, or as this year’s seniors skip day, had a major bump for the seniors that form part of NHS.

For any NHS seniors that did not come that day and sign a paper that explicitly said the student was that day in school, they would not be able to graduate with the NHS diploma.

“We all came together and literally run to sign the paper at Maria Teresa’s office and got out of school right away,” said Susana Mejia, NHS participant and senior at TCS.

The seniors came that day to school to sign the paper and left as fast as possible. They didn’t stay in school and much less go to class. Although the school had a problem with this there was not much that they could do.

“I think that if the school is forcing someone to come on seniors skip day, it should be students that are struggling academically rather than NHS students that perform above the average TCS student.” Said the 11th grader Simon Pelaez.

The school made the seniors that are part of NHS come because they are role models and should not skip regular school days.

“The NHS participants perform greatly academically and by just missing one day of school it will not affect much their learning or anything for that matter.” Said Maria Antonia Aristizabal, 11th grader and next year integrant of the board.

Also, the NHS students if they missed something during that one day they skipped they could easily recover and continue to b back on track.

“NHS students don’t get to where they are through sheer intelligence. They also have a great work ethic so missing a school day won’t be such a problem as they easily catch up.” Said Pelaez
