Adriana Bernal, a professional documentary filmmaker came to TCS High School library to give a speech to Andrew Ambron’s 10th grade English class on May 16th.

Ambron just started a unit about filmmaking with his 10th grade English class. For this purpose, he invited Adriana Bernal to be his guest speaker. Adriana comes from Bogotá and has 16 years of professional experience creating documentaries. She gave a 10 minute speech on the importance of documentaries in the world, leaving an important message to the students: no matter what your social conditions are, you need to do what you like.

“Her most valuable message was that in your life, it’s important to not base your actions in what salary your going to earn, or what your parents tell you to do, you should do what you’re really passionate about and that’s when your really successful”, said  Ambron.

Ambron was really satisfied with the work by Bernal because she was really professional the students learned a lot from her.

“Adriana Bernal is a really experience women that made a wonderful presentation to my students and with this we will make a wonderful work,” Ambron said.

Jordi academic high school coach new Adriana Bernal from past experiences, and that was why he came with the idea of bringing her to the school

“Jordi deserves a lot of credit for making this happen, he knew Adriana Bernal from past experiences and i had been talking to jordi for an idea for my class for the students to make short documentaries,” Ambron said.

A great thing of documentary films is that help society to understand new things and explain how there are different things, what connie thinks is that,

“A lot of times documentary films are used to give a voice, and give some understanding to groups of people that aren’t as heard from in society or people that are consider strange or weird,” said Connie Gonzales High school librarian.

This spaces are really important for the library and also for the school, because they turn the library into learning center.

“It is really important that they use the library for this kind of things because it became also a really important part of the school where is not only use for reading, printing, or making copies it’s also for learning,” Gonzales said.
