Arijuuna

In this picture I am an “Arijuuna” which in Wayuunaiki means stranger. Me and the older Wayuu boy are wearing their most common handmade backpacks.  I’m getting involved with the people from Wayuu culture, which provoked a cultural shock for both of us, but then I started sharing Ideas with them, and them with us. This made me realize that these kids suffer a lot and even though they suffer they are always with a smile on their face. Some children have to ask for money to everyone they see on the roads in Guajira so they can eat. Their school isn’t very big but does provide them with basic food and water. The school name is Institucion Educativa Cabo de la Vela. To help La Guajira, home of the Wayuu develop, we can purchase their artisan goods such as  backpacks, bracelets, and artisan crafts. That will help them acquire resources without the need to beg.
