A Tradition to be Thankful For

The Thanksgiving tradition ceremony is a life changing experience for the seniors who get to interact with K4 students.

Taking place on November 22, 2017, in the elementary school coliseum, the Thanksgiving tradition has been passed on generation to generation and it is part of what makes our school so special. This tradition is a symbol of the unity of our school and this is why seniors spend the whole assembly with K4 kids and share the rest of the day with them. For seniors this is a transcendent moment because they start to reminisce their years at school.

“It was a nostalgic experience that I will always cherish, just the thought that I was once that little kid in K4 with such a long journey before me and that now I have accomplished all of it. It just reminds me how fast time passed and that my years in school are now over,” said Laura Echeverri, TCS Senior.

This assembly is when something clicks in seniors hearts and it is when they realize that they are now about to go out into the world and that they are no longer those little kids they are carrying.

“ It is hard to think of this as the last Thanksgiving ceremony I will attend, but it was a great experience; sharing with the kids made me have another reason to be thankful for because it showed me how happy I was in school since I was that small,” said Emilio Pelaez, Senior.

The point of this ceremony is not only to unite the whole school, but also give thanks to how fortunate we have been to study in this amazing school and show us how our transition through the years has helped shape us from kids to how we are today.

“I have always looked forward to being the senior who entered the ceremony with the kids and I think it is a big accomplishment in my life because it means that I have come so far and this experience reminds us all of this, and I think it is a tradition that teaches us many things and it should live on for many more generations to come,”  said Pablo Cote, Senior.
