2018 Candle Night

Safety and regulations during candle night  were one of the most important factors. School is responsible for every single person on campus, and everything is supposed to go as transcribed.

Candle night at the Columbus school has always been a time for students to share with friends and family. This year 2018 knowing some changes where made students claim they are anxious to come and see how it will go, hoping they will have fun.

“If you were lighting candles somewhere that could be risky they told you to go away, and they also have paramedics and firefighters in case something happens,” Nuñez, said.

School and students work very hard to prepare this event and make it as fun as possible. Giving opportunities for families to sell things, and students to make presentations they’ve prepared during the year.

“In NHS they ask  for our help during candle night, for us to sell the candles with 45 min shifts,” Valentina Velez, an 11th-grade student, said.

In school, National Honor society group is a big part of candle night. They sell the essence of candle night. candles and the money they get is for the foundation.

“They’re going to be preparing Stands and the spaces in the grass to people to put the candles, and also the stage because they create cool shows and bring activities for everyone to enjoy,” Sofia Nuñez, an 11th-grade student, said.

School and students not only think about the fun they can have, but they also think about their sameness and which precautions they should have during candle night.

“There was a band of the school that played, and it was extraordinary and astonishing. I don’t think this year there is one, but we don’t know,” Velez, said.

Students claim last year there was an entertaining show from the band group, and they are not sure if this year there will be one. All they are hoping for is to have lots of fun again.

“It is going to be safer, and people will be able to have lots of fun and spent time with their friend and families,” Velez said.
