Taking a closer look at the tables, it is possible to understand which groups of students are using them and for what specific purposes. Various student groups sit in the tables during lunch breaks, while others use them during classes and X-block to study, film videos, or simply enjoy the views. (9th-grade students were among those sitting at the tables)
“Students have been much more conscious this year about picking up their trash and plates. I think the fact that the tables are outside helps remind them to take care of their environment. However, the concrete material is more prone to staining due to its porosity, which causes it to retain more debris compared to the plastic of regular tables,” Alba Villada, maintenance worker, said.
