The new student council team

Key roles within the student council  were recently occupied by current STUCCO members during the new student council’s first meeting

Once Stucco are elected at the beginning of each school year, those who get elected are later on assigned special and specific roles which they must follow within the student  government.  There are four roles assigned to four different stucco members. During the new student council’s  first meeting, the four special roles were assigned to the new Stucco as follows:

Federico Caro (12th grade stucco) –  President of the Student council ( in charge of supervising all stucco)
Alejandro Gomez (11th grade stucco)  – Treasurer ( in charge of monetary matters)
Andrea Cardona (9th grade stucco) – Secretary ( in charge of making each meeting’s official record)
Valentina Mesa (8th grade stucco) – Communicator ( in charge of keeping the students up to date on stucco decisions and projects)

These people make up the team that will be playing a main role for student government and student council projects throughout this next school year. The distribution of responsibilities through these roles is expected to improve effectiveness and organization.

“The existence of these position is very important, as it provides organization to the student council, allowing us to work better as a team in order to solve problematics effectively,” said Federico Caro, president of the student council.

However, despite the help these roles provide, some still doubt the effectiveness of the student council and its competency when it comes to getting work done.

“During the past years, I haven’t noticed any contributions made by Stucco and I feel like they are not really making any difference, although I feel like this year we could really see some change,s” said Salomé Beyer, ninth grade student.

Even though it is said that the council has not been effective during the past years, this year’s team looks promising to many people, as the roles were assigned to people who are thought to be perfectly fit for the job.

“I feel comfortable with the way these positions were assigned this year. The right people were chosen for each  and I think they will carry out their jobs correctly, ” said Beyer.

Expectations are high for what the new team is expected to do during the 2017 – 2018 school year. Will students finally be satisfied with the stucco´s work?

“I really my working team for this year. They know what they are doing and are hard working. I am sure we will  get lots of work done and I think students will notice and appreciate our work this time,” said Caro.
