MS Boys Soccer Team Loses Binational Final to CNG

TCS Middle School Boys Soccer team went to Binationals March 20-26 hosted by Karl C. Parrish School from Barranquilla losing in the finals to Bogota rivals CNG.

In the Binationals games, schools from different regions of Colombia faced each other in sports including soccer, basketball and volleyball. Everyone fought for the first place trophy and many teams got close, but there can only be one champion.

“This championship for us would’ve been a lot more different if we wouldn’t been united. Being united means playing as a whole, helping the others and being there in the good and in the bad. If we wouldn’t been united we wouldn’t have come this far,” Tomas Angel, 8th grade striker, said.

In the group stage of soccer, TCS Middle School Boys won three games and tied one, against Karl C. Parrish school from Barranquilla. They classified to semifinals and won 4-0 against the Bolivar from Cali,  Fernando Rodriguez, trainer of Middle School Boys Soccer team stated. The boys had to deal with one of the strongest teams in the final, which was the Colegio Nueva Granada from Bogotá and TCS lost 1-0.

“I feel a little frustrated because our greatest rival has always been the CNG which is the school from Bogotá and we haven’t beat them even though we have tried hard,” Rodriguez said.

According to Rodriguez, the team played with a lot of effort and were enthusiastic during training sessions and the results were seen through the matches they played.  They didn’t lose the final because they were missing pasion and training , they lost it because it was a hard match and sometimes it is impossible to win.

“I feel that I gave my best in the field, well, all of us did because we all wanted the victory and the trophy with our heart but we had to accept it because some things in life aren’t like you expected,”  Juan Sebastian Osorio, 8th grade striker, said.

Sometimes after a loss, a player can also feel anger towards the other team because you always want to be the best, but deep inside you know you did  your best, all you could and that’s what really matters.

“We feel sad and at the same time happy. We feel happy because we know we gave it all on the field and we know that we are better than the other team but at the same time we feel sad because for some little mistakes we lost the championship.” Angel said.
