Fitness Boxing: The New Way to Keep Fit

I slipped on puffy headgear and a pair of gloves and stepped into the ring. At our trainer’s command, I looked at my rival dead in the eye and launched my fist at his head. When the fight was over I confessed that the moment when I’d thrown that first punch at him had been among the strangest, most exhilarating experiences of my life.

Fitness boxing is a new way to stay fit without having to receive punches. This boxing keeps you fit because you are constantly moving the muscles of your arms and shoulders, increasing your upper-body strength. When you’re in the boxer crouch with a wide stance and with your knees slightly bent, you’re strengthening your core muscles, back, and legs.

“I started boxing 5 years ago when I was in 6th grade, and I loved it ever since because is a great way to do exercise and it is also extremely fun and you don’t feel like you are doing exercise,” Juan Felipe Gaviria, 11th-grade student, said.

Boxing is a really common sport because of how people feel about it. People really like how boxing keeps you in shape and how while doing something you like also increases your strength.

“I feel like I can let all my stress out by hitting the sack and by hitting it with technique and repetition I gain strength doing a sport that I really like,” Simon Arriola, 8th grader, said.

As stated before people like to exercise by doing boxing because becoming fit is not the only benefit. People with anger have a great time boxing because they can let all of that repressed anger by hitting the punching sack.

According to the Better Health Channel, a lot of people consider anger as an emotion that is bad so they decide to suppress it. But having suppressed anger can lead to depression and anxiety. People that have suppressed enough will eventually explode and because they don’t box they can hurt younger people and even pets.

“I had suppressed my anger for most of my life, the feeling of always getting mad over stuff is not pleasant and I had a hard time meeting new people, boxing grew on me as a way to release the negative feelings and getting fit at the same time” Gabriel Vallejo, 11th grade student, said.

Boxing is a trend in the modeling world. Giselle Bundchen, Gigi Hadid, and Adriana Lima and other Victoria’s Secret models are fans. These fans said that boxing is not only an arm workout, but it a full cardiovascular workout including legs, core, back, and shoulders,” Leila Fazel, trainer at Aerospace NYC, said.

Boxing is something that people are using in the entertainment industry to keep in shape to continue surprising their fans. Boxing not only works for keeping in shape and to let the suppressed anger out and to also learn how to have self-defense.

The art of self-defense is a movie that was released in 2019 and shows how a man that was afraid of other man learns how to do karate to defend himself. This movie shows how boxing has become really popular and how any ordinary people can decide to box.

Boxing in the United States has seen a great impact on the fitness industry because in the last five years there have been over 7,291 gyms that included boxing equipment or classes to their gyms. Also, there are about 242 independent boxing gyms in the united states alone.
