Seniors share their favorite moments to make the most out of high school, offering a list of must-do experiences and bucket list activities to check off before graduation.
High school is more than just academics, it’s a time to make and shape connections, enjoy traditions, and create unforgettable memories. For seniors, there is the excitement of the last first day and festive traditions like the Halloween entrance and Thanksgiving celebration with kinder four. They enjoy nostalgic and unique moments throughout this chapter. Trips to Cartagena and San Andrés, bonding during Convivencias, and celebrating Christmas with the maintenance team add meaning to their high school journey, making it a year to remember forever.
“I think that my most nostalgic memory is, the last first day, and then Halloween. This brings a sense of nostalgia as all the things that you would watch the seniors do when you were little, and suddenly you’re the senior doing them now,” Sofia Trujillo, senior, said.
New students often bring a fresh perspective to long-standing traditions, offering insights into what makes them truly special. She has noticed the moments that bring the year together and those that create excitement.
“As a new student, I have been able to have an outside perspective when looking at the traditions of people in the school. Something that I’ve seen many people look forward to, is the trip to San Andrés and Halloween,” Camila Gutierrez, senior, said.
The most cherished high school memories often revolve around getting closer together as a year. Whether participating in traditions, sharing laughs with friends, or bonding in group activities, these moments become the highlights that seniors carry with them even after graduating.
“I think the most important activities are the ones that include being together. Those are the ones that you will remember the most when looking back,” Isabella Ramirez, senior, said.
Choosing the most memorable experience through their high school journey is a very tough decision. For many, the trip to Cartagena will hold a special place in their hearts as unforgettable. Cartagena is an experience that is very unique and does not get done very often.
“The most memorable experience so far has been Cartagena because it was such a fun time. There was so much going on between, hanging out in the ocean the whole day, being with friends, and then partying at night, the whole trip is a bonding experience, as you talk to people you don’t normally talk to,” Gutierrez said.
While the traditions at the TCS community are both unique and versatile, some don’t leave a lasting memory as others. Based on a senior’s experiences in previous schools, Gutierrez suggests a new, exciting tradition that could become a must-do experience for everyone.
“A very fun and useful tradition in my past school was the seniors becoming waiters in a family-owned restaurant for a whole night. The tips received that evening are used towards funding senior’s activities. This was a great way of raising money while bringing them together,” Gutierrez said.
There are some traditions seniors believe are essential. These, especially the last first day prepare you for what is to come throughout the year; a lot of fun with a mix of sentiment. It is a special moment of bonding with both your classmates and family.
“I think the school tradition that no one should skip, would be the last first day, because it was a way to see that, school, your friends, everything has come to an end this year. The letters that our family gave us were very heartwarming and nice,” Trujillo said.
