We Can Make A Difference

La Guajira is a beautiful place in the north of Colombia, but the Cerrejon mine, the harsh climates, and the poverty is killing the Wayuu community. The Wayuu don’t have clean water or sometimes even accessible water.. Many of the Wayuu kids learn how to beg for food, water or other needs before they go to school. I believe that if kids learn how to beg before school they are going to build a life of dependency.  If all of us join in and start noticing and acting on problems we can find a permanent solution. In La Guajira, focusing on water tanks and classrooms makes a positive change because it provides a basic need, and gives the opportunity to study and attend school instead of walking for water, or begging. La Guajira is not the only place that has environmental issues, corruption and poverty. We can make a difference everywhere.
