Tree Purgatory

Last week we were doing an expedition to La Guajira, located in the top of Colombia, where we found some of the best landscapes, coolest projects, learned about new cultures, and even saw nature never seen before. But, this landscape started changing into more of a garbage land as we continued our trip. While we were with native people in Uribia, we shared a meal with them, and it was really sad what they were doing to their land. After finishing their meal some people littered their chip bags and wrappers and one child said to my classmates and I, “The other people are going to do the same thing, so it doesn’t matter.” As we heard what he said I thought to myself “Is one piece going to make a difference? Are 900,000 pieces for trash going to make a difference?” The only solution for human behavior and environmental contamination is education from childhood.
