The Guajira is a place with many economic and environmental problems and it has become dryer throughout the last few years. Each year it gets worse. One of the biggest problem is the water and the pollution. The water is being contaminated by the nearby mine and because of this pollution many animals are dying and the Wayuu communities and the Guajira citizens are being affected in many ways. Humans need to use water all of their lives and there is not enough water for everyone.The mine requires a big amount of water and it contaminates rivers. They create a big carbon footprint in the Guajira. One solution could be that the Guajira citizens stop wasting water in things that they don’t really need, and start taking more care of it.  One example could be that schools can propose strategies to reduce the waste of water and teach students how to take care of the water. The mine could also find a way where they can stop creating such a big carbon footprint.
