This desert in Colombia, La Guajira, was once a beautiful tropical area with lots of biodiversity. Now it is just a plain desert with almost no vegetation and almost no biodiversity. All of this is happening because of the coal mines and the huge industries implanted in La Guajira. This picture shows how the mines and the big industries are causing global warming. Because of this many of the world´s places are drying up and getting affected by this worldwide issue. In La Guajira this problem is being caused by excessive mining and by their use of clean or semi-clean water to process the materials extracted. One of the solutions for this worldwide issue is instead of using river water or clean water, use sea water. These multi millionaire companies should leave clean water for locals to drink and instead they should use dirty water or sea water.
