Around the world there are fantastic places to visit that have great views and great culture to learn from. La Guajira is an incredible place with a great culture to learn from and a place with beautiful places with fantastic views. In La Guajira in Northern Colombia, there are people that must confront  problems every day. Not only do they have to deal with plastic, but also with water shortage because they don’t have the amount of water that many people have and the water they use is not 100% clean. This can end up causing diseases. So we must ask ourselves what can we do to benefit La Guajira in a good way? When we are willing to help and support others we can have a society that is friendly and that has a  good economic level. Many humans aren’t considering that they are using a huge amount of materials that cause contamination.

La Guajira is facing many problems that is affecting their economy and their society. The problems that La Guajira is facing are poverty, corruption, and contamination. In La Guajira there is a lot of poverty and this is because their economy does not work in a sustainable way that can benefit citizens to gain money and have jobs. Water is really hard to get in La Guajira they must get the water from the same place as El Cerrejon mine. The water that they have can be harmful and its not healthy because it’s full of chemicals from the mine that can harm us. Every day families must walk for hours to get water that is not clean.

Another issue that every year a huge amount of plastic is left in La Guajira and this leads to contamination. Even though it’s a beautiful place, carbon and plastic are making this place into a tragedy because if this continues this fantastic experience and great views and places to visit might end.The government should do something but they aren’t using their money correctly.They gain lots of money because of their projects and they use the money in other stuff that do not benefit the people, or it is lost due to corruption.

They should use their money in a good way that can get La Guajira out of that tragedy because they are already facing lots of trouble and we don’t want to create more that can end La Guajira. Some of the solutions that we must have in mind are that we must reduce our use of plastic when we travel, and use bags to put our  trash and recycle it when we get back. We should also keep in mind the amount of carbon dioxide that we generate, so we should reduce our flights and car hours and this will benefit La Guajira in a better way. If we reduce our use of plastic and carbon footprint we will do La Guajira a favor as well as ourselves because it’s a great place to visit and our goal is to make it last.

We can also help La Guajira not only by reducing our use of plastic but also by collecting money, enough to buy tanks of water and materials to build houses and other places to make events for the indigenous Wayuu people. Water is the hardest thing to get in La Guajira because El Cerrejon uses lots of water that water that makes it unhealthy to drink because of the components that it has. The carbon contamination is harming a lot of the people in La Guajira because since the water and air is polluted, the people breathe the air, their lungs get contaminated and they can get a lot of diseases like tuberculosis.

Another problem that La Guajira is facing is the corruption. There has been a lot of corruption and a lot of politicians have gone to jail or have been extradited. Politicians are ambitious, but sometimes greedy and always want more even though they get paid a lot of money and they have huge salaries. Also the corruption has affected a lot the people because the money that the politicians steal is supposed to go to the people and to make a better society. Corruption is also affecting the kids because the money doesn’t go for their education. This will later be a bigger problem because the kids won’t have a good education and they will not be able to help to make a sustainable society. This can be changed if we start teaching the kids since they are small, how to make a better society or also we can teach them how to be good leaders that care about the people and know how to make the society into it’s best. La Guajira can be changed. We can make an impact. With dedication, we can change the way of La Guajira’s future and we can give the kids and all the people that live there a good life and a good education. Privileged people in Colombia and the world can make an impact and we should. We spend our money in things that we don’t need while there are people dying all around us. We need to make all the world equal because we are all humans and we have all the same rights. We must start by making small steps and then grow bigger to help others so we all have equal rights.
