La Guajira is a place full of beautiful culture, fauna, and flora. They are dealing with environmental issues such as drought, the mine El Cerrejon, no recycling facilities, scarce resources and more. 902,386 people in the region have to deal with these issues. One of the biggest problems is the mine El Cerrejon, it affects the environment and the society because of how much it pollutes, also it wastes a lot of water. Solutions can be stop using so much land for mining, and leaving it for animals and nature. Another solution can be use another source like desalinated ocean water or reusing the mine water because the process uses a lot of water and it gets contaminated. By protecting the land and water, we also protect the culture, flora and fauna.
