Valentina’s Dancing Journey to Berlin

Valentina Guerra, ex-TCS student, knew what she wanted to be since she was a little kid, a professional ballerina. She always went to her mother’s ballet classes and sat down to observe. When Guerra was four years old she realized that she wanted to be just  like her mother, therefore Guerra asked her to enroll her in the ballet classes. That’s when her journey as a ballerina began. Now in just days Valentina, is heading to Berlin to pursue her dreams, and to begin a new chapter on her life.

Throughout time, ballet classes stopped being a hobby and began to be a life style and a passion. Guerra’s professor and mother began to notice that she was no ordinary dancer, instead they notice that she was an extraordinary ballerina, also that she had endless capacities and qualities. When Valentina attended to summer camps of ballet out of the country she always received recognitions and awards. But the most important thing of all her journey is that she has grown as a person and learned hoe to be a better one.

Growing into a better person

Guerra takes her ballet classes were all of her peers have scholarships, for instance it is a privilege since they can’t afford to pay for the program; it was very difficult for the academy, or for anyone to gather that much money for so many girls. In fact it was almost impossible to gather enough money for Guerra to continue in the camp, as she persists to collect the money to be able to her class mates out of the country.

“I wanted them to have the same opportunity that I had, so I established a goal to take them all to Spain, so started selling candy, coffee, fruits, and Popsicle, ” Guerra said.

“It was beautiful what she made; she put a smile in each girl. It was easier to her just leave and don’t help them, but she has enormous heart that it was impossible to her just leaving without fighting,” said Patricia, a friend of Guerra’s mother.

Valentina and the academy after a long and exhausting fight achieved the goal they had in mind that was to take the six girls to the summer camp of the Russians masters ballet in Alicante Spain, during the summer of 2017.

Whats next

During the summer camp of 2017 the principles of the Staatliche Ballettschule und Schule für Artistik school choose out of 320 people 12 to test them for Berlin’s school of ballet. Guerra was part of the elite group, so she had already attended the Berlin camp last September for try outs. As a surprise she was the only one accepted. She will be  going the twenty-seven of November to Berlin to follow her dreams she so heavily worked for.

“I’m still in shock that out of 320 people they chose me. This is a huge step in my ballerina career; it is a dream come true, a thing that I have always wanted,” Guerra said.

“I’m so proud of her; I never imagine that she would get this far, but this is what you get when you work hard and with dedication. This also is not only her dreams but also mine,” Valentina’s mother said.

Fears

Not everything is flowers and rainbows; there is also a dark side in each situation. It is true that Valentina is realizing her dreams, but in a new place with a different language, culture, and traditions, all by herself can cause fear and have doubt as she will be away from her family and a guidance that she can trust such as her role model .

Valentina said, “Yes it is a huge risk that I am taking, but it is worth It because I am chasing my dreams.”
