The Fight Continues

A presentation to the boys and girls in middle school on what truly is feminism is going to be done by the group Girl Up.

Freshmen and president of the group Girl Up Salome Beyer had some meetings with the middle school vice principal and counselor about the possible topics that could be discussed in the future presentations to make kids aware of what feminism really is. This presentation will start in January next year, and although Beyer is a high school student, she wants to focus on middle school first.

“We are educating these kid from a young age so they are able to create their own opinion based on equality and based upon the fact that women facts are human rights and vice-versa,” said Beyer.

The organization’s goal is to make the kids aware of what truly is feminism and explain the different perspectives that vary in the topic. Also, they want to clear any doubts that people may have regarding feminism and talk about its history.

“To learn that feminism is the equality between genders I want the stigmas between girls and boys to be over,” said freshman Camila Ceballos.

The opportunity to join the Girl Up team will be open by talking to Beyer about the interest in the group.

“The campaign is crucial to the development of the ideals of true feminism because we base our activities in interaction and we focus on truly spreading the message instead of disregarding people’s opinions. Education is our priority,” said Beyer.
