The a45 AMG Mercedes Benz performance division underdog

First off what is AMG.? Amg Aufrecht Melcher Großaspach (Mercedes Benz racing) specifically is the Mercedes division that works on high-performance cars. This is where the Formula One team “AMG Petronas” comes from, being the driver and constructor champions for the last 5 years and earning more points than all the other teams. Even though performance comes with a high price mark, this isn’t necessarily the case for the a45. Tobias Moers AMG CEO wanted a high-performance car with a not so high price tag. This is the definition of the a45 a fire-breathing track demon that costs € 49,682.50, “ For a car that is under 50 thousand euros the a45 is abnormal” stated (TCS student and Alejandro Gomez).

After very in-depth testing of 1 year owning and daily driving an a45 AMG we can conclude it is an incredibly intuitive car. It is a car that doesn’t need an outstanding pilot to achieve high speeds, but in the case that there is an experienced pilot in the driver’s seat, the a45 can Top off that. Its competitors can’t do Like the BMW m240i. The M240 is a car that is very tough to drive and is a car that is only recommended for very experienced pilots. Instead, the a45 is a car that can follow a learning curve. You won’t outgrow it too fast or too slow.

Some of the specs of the a45 AMG include a 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds. A defect considering that its most aggressive competitor the RS3 has a 3.5 second 0-62 sprint. This is given to the fact that this car is centered on the Mercedes “4Matic” transmission. The “4Matic” transmission is a four wheel drive transmission that transfers the power from the 2.0 liter inline 4 381 hp engine crank directly to the four wheels thus making the a45  all of the power the engine can provide to the pavement with a very little loss of power. I think, the best overall hot Hatch is the A45 followed by the RS3. The A45 offers a true driving experience. You can almost feel a stick shift car when driving the A45. It also, shreds through turns and does a decent job on the 0-62 mile sprint.

The a45 AMG as a daily driver can be called a manageable headache. It has enough trunk space for grocery shopping or everyday tasks, but the problem comes to the car’s height when it comes to speed bumps the front lip and rear diffuser will take a beating. Especially on Medellin’s roads. Also, take into consideration that this is not a car for dirt roads or rocky roads. After one year of owning an a45, I have had six flat tires most of which after driving on dirt roads. Also, this car doesn’t have a spare tire it has a special foam that you put into the tire, and it gives you about 30 extra miles of prolonged driving. Apart from this, the a45 is an excellent daily driver.

Some of the Competitors the a45 faces in the “HOT-HATCH” category (the one that includes vehicles in the a45 price range) include vehicles like the “Ford Focus RS,” The “Audi RS3” and the “BMW m240i”. All of this vehicles have ups and downs, but the a45s closest competitor has to be the Mighty RS3 Directly out of the oven from AUDI’S Headquarters. Unfortunately, the RS3 is not available in Colombia for purchase. Also, these vehicles have been known for having defective gearboxes. And there warranty service not being even close to what AMG has to offer. The “AMG performance center”  A Mechanic station for Mercedes AMG vehicles only. This facility is open close to 24/7 operation for the client to have a pleasant experience.
