Senior Interviewed on Camara de Comercio

Maria Hinestroza during the interview in Cámara de Comercio

Senior and TOM 2023 leader, Maria Hinestroza visited Camara de Comercio radio station last Friday to talk about the project and its future.

Hinestroza appeared along with representatives of el Comité de Rehabilitación de Antioquia and Escuela de Ingeneros de Antioquia (EIA) who are co-sponsors of the event. Camara de Comercio invited them to speak after the PreTOM inauguration event was hosted in their building last month.

“It was very exciting to come here and show the city what this event means. It all started a couple weeks ago during PreTOM, when one of the workers of la Camara de Comercio asked me to participate in an interview to give the event more outreach,” Hinestroza said.

The purpose of the interview was to give the public more knowledge about the event and its impact on the community.

“Incredible. It was an incredible experience where we could have another space to share with our community what TOM really is about and all the impact it can generate,” Hinestroza said.

The interview gives visibility to the projects developed throughout the year at TCS. It shows Medellín that the school is involved in a diversity of social events, and goes beyond the academic environment.

“Her work means a lot for the school because it means that it’s reaching outside of the classrooms and actually generating a real impact for our community,” Hector Londoño, Technology Teacher and TOM Advisor, said.

Hinestroza and Sonia Gallardo from El Comite spoke about the ways to approach people with disabilities and how to make our community more inclusive.

“There is no problem in calling them ‘people with disabilities’, as long as you treat them as the human beings they are and not in some other strange way,” Gallardo said.

In comparison to previous TOM editions, TOM 2023 will have new features which will generate a broader impact on the community.

This year, TOM will be very exciting and will have an even stronger impact as it will have 10 Need Knowers with all kinds of disabilities and their solutions will be unique. Additionally, solutions will not stay there, as TOM plans to mass produce many of these solutions to impact even more people,” Hinestroza said.
