“Like” or not Like

Rebelde, the famous remake of the Argentinian show “Rebelde Way,” captured the hearts of millions all around the world. Now a days Televisa is filming the 3rd generation called “Like,” a remake of the remake.

TCS student who were huge fans of the second generation of Rebelde, have very low expectations for the new generation of Rebelde, now that Rebelde (Original remake) was one of a kind and impossible to replace. This version is going to be filmed in Mexico, the same place as the second generation of “Rebelde,” was produced, but it differs in the diverse cast it will have.

“I don’t want to put my hopes up because Rebelde was so iconic, and everybody loved it so much, and it had so many things that were so real about it, that I’m not sure how there are going to try to recreate it,” Tatiana Botero, an 11th grade student and huge fan of Rebelde, said.

Not only are the expectation of students low but some of them can’t even imagine how it is going to be carried out, due to the big difference between both time periods.

“I can not imagine how they’re going to adapt the technology and the change in time. There is a huge difference between 2004 and 2018, causing the essence of Rebelde not being preserved,” Sofia Barros, an eleventh grade student, said.

The difference between the decades will be a difficult challenge for the producers, specially because the biggest legacy of the second Rebelde is the cast, and as it won’t be the same  as the 3rd generation, it does not satisfy several fans.

“What most captured my heart were the actors, so I do not think it will be equally good and successful,” Barros said.

Despite all the negative thoughts about “Like”, some students are actually anxious to see it and are willing to see just to judge it.

“Of course I’m going to give it a chance, I am really anxious to see how they are going to adapt it to this new era, and it’s going to be a high quality serie because is with the same producer as the last Rebelde,” Paulina Bernal, another eleventh grader and huge fan said.
