  • The NHS group at our high school is putting together candy grams and serenades for all the students. Its a tradition during Valentines Day week where NHS students make candygrams and sell them so anyone can give them to whoever they want. Serenades are also a long-standing tradition here. We enjoy doing this. Its hilarious to see how people react when they receive candygrams and serenades from someone unexpected, Eva Morales, one of the NHS participants, said.

Idílico – Stylish Ambiance, Authentic Flavors

Idílico - Stylish Ambiance, Authentic Flavors

Located in El Poblado, Idílico is a restaurant that offers a sensory experience rather than just a meal. Every dish that Chef Yeison Mora creates is a fusion of international and Colombian flavors, showcasing his passion for using fresh, in-season ingredients.

Idílico is a must-visit destination for everyone interested in experiencing Colombian flavors, whether you are a tourist, resident, or curious student. It provides a modern, welcoming, and truly peaceful ambiance, all while capturing the spirit of Medellin’s culinary scene.

“I discovered Idílico through my dad, who had already gone a few times and wouldn’t stop insisting on how good it was and that I needed to try it. I finally gave it a chance, and honestly, it is now one of my favorite restaurants,” Mariana Mesa, TCS Senior, said.

Idílico’s interior design properly blends modern elements with local inspirations. An inviting room that feels stylish yet comfortable and genuine, is created with warm earth tones, soft lighting, and creative decorations.

The menu at Idílico is a gastronomic journey through Colombian flavors with a modern twist. The chef’s commitment to using only the best, freshest ingredients is evident in every dish. The menu offers a wide range of options to suit different palates, from inventive creations to classic staples.

“The ‘Arepa de Mote with Roasted Pork’ was a standout for me – a contemporary take on a classic Colombian dish that brought together familiar flavors in a surprising way. The creative cocktails also caught my attention, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience,” Beatriz Correa, Idílido customer, said.

Some of the standout dishes, and my personal favorite, are the Corn Tentacles (you cannot leave without trying these), Arepa de Mote with Roasted Pork, and Arepa with Cress. These are mostly appetizers, if you are craving something more filling, try out the Pork and Layered Potato, or the Fresh Pasta. For dessert, order the Soursop and Hibiscus Flower or the Arazá, it is simple yet packed with flavor and a perfect way to end an unforgettable experience.

The staff makes sure guests have a memorable experience as well as letting them enjoy their meals in peace. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and passionate about the food, making the experience even more enjoyable. On one occasion, when celebrating my grandmother’s birthday, they offered to take us inside their brand-new VIP room, being able to offer even better service to the event.

“We aim to enhance the enjoyment of each dish and turn a meal into a memorable occasion. Even though I have worked here for a short amount of time, I truly have enjoyed the process of learning how these creative dishes are made and I admire the work and dedication of everyone working here too,” Cristian Salazar, Idílico staff member, said.

Idílico is a special and unique location, but it’s important to remember that it’s not for everyone. The portions are smaller than normal or larger plates, and the prices are on the higher end. Also, reservations are a must, particularly on weekends, since the restaurant is small.

“I think in general, not necessarily because of the budget, but because of the restaurant in general, this is not a restaurant that you would go to on a daily basis. This place is more of a restaurant to go to on a special occasion,” Santiago López, TCS 11th grader, said.

Idílico is a must-try if you’re searching for a distinctive and special dining experience in Medellín. Its creative food, charming setting, and excellent service make it exceptional. It is a great option for a special occasion or a night out with friends. Just don’t forget to make your reservation ahead of time, and be ready for smaller portions and a higher price.
