Girls futbol Rally to Win Copa Columbus Title

TCS Grade 8 girls futbol team won the MS Copa Columbus defeating the Cristo Rey soccer club 2-0 at the auxiliary soccer field May 12.

TCS faced a challenging match against Cristo Rey because some players were born in 2007, while the tournament category was 2008-2009. Several TCS players were younger than their adversaries.

“Our opponents were physically stronger. However, we managed to gain an advantage and score by utilizing our game of precise ball control and keeping the ball on the ground,” Alina Restrepo, Grade 8, said.

Although TCS was unaccustomed to playing futbol 9, a game where only nine players compete for each team, they staged a comeback and emerged victorious in their last match against Camp Soccer 1-0, which secured their qualification for the final.

“We managed to qualify because we exerted all our energy in the game and had our best performance, enabling us to execute our goal opportunities effectively,” Restrepo said.
