Colombia’s Race to Russia 2018

The national Colombian soccer team, managed by José Néstor Pékerman Krimen is currently battling to secure a spot into the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

To satisfy the expectations and with the support and hope of all the Colombians across the world the team is expected to guarantee, but fans have different opinions on how to accomplish this.

“Colombia has very experimented players and a very talented manager until now they have performed well. There are two games left and of the six possible point they will claim at least 4, enough to qualify,” said Urbano Mesa, High school PE teachers at the Columbus school.

Although Mesa’s opinion is rather optimistic there are other opinions that don’t support this as well, especially the loved manager Pekerman.

“¨Well he has met the expected results by the fans but as a trainer I don’t see much effective work, for example in important games he has done some horrible substitutions.¨ ” said Hernan Jose Arango Rivillas most commonly known as ‘Chapo’ the High school PE teacher and High school coach for the women’s soccer team.

Despite the different opinions about the manager Pekerman and his decisions in this position, all of the interviewees agreed upon the same major ideas; they all saw Colombia heading into the World Cup.

“I think their best chance is to win their next game here at home, and I think they will have a lot of expectations with James being back and healthy, playing at home and Cuadrados current game in Juventus I think if they put all this together they will be able to win.” said Freddy Badillo the athletic director at The Columbus School.

Now the only thing left is to wait for the fifth and tenth of October and wish for the best.

“We have had great games as well as we have had horrible games, but right this moment we are inside the 4 teams that qualify directly and qualifying is the only important thing right now.” said Andrés Cadavid the goalkeeper trainer at The Columbus School.
