Russian advances stagnate… for the moment

Russian+advances+stagnate...+for+the+moment

Frontline Map: Mar 24, 2022

Blue Marked Area(s):

  • Defending forces, including a large chunk of the foreign fighters serving Ukraine, tried to break out from the city of Chernihiv in the north. Probably due to poor logistical planning and logistics, the breakout failed. Russian forces counterattacked and proceeded to properly enter the outskirts of the city. Artillery and Missiles have started hitting vital areas of the city, probably killing hundreds of troops and civilians.

Red Marked Area(s):

  • The city of Sievierodonetsk has been partially occupied by Russian infantry forces while an armoured corps tries to flank and encircle the city but is negated by the strong Anti-tank contingent of the defending Ukrainians. On the other hand, the city of Lysychansk suffered one of the largest artillery and missile barrages seen in the entire conflict as of March 23, 2022.

Green Marked Area(s):

  • A combined attack between air, armoured and infantry forces from Russia to the small but strategic town of Novoiakovlivka and the great city of Zaporizhzhia, was heavily beaten back by two Ukrainian divisions that were entrenched along the major roads and paths leading both populations centers. It is reported that guerrilla tactics with anti-tank weapons had caused heavy losses on a Russian armoured unit and a mechanized infantry unit. Russian attack helicopters were forced to retreat due to heavy anti-aircraft fire.
