TCS won the finals in Boys Volleyball and Futbol, got second place in Boys Basketball and reached the semifinals in Girls Basketball. The event took place at Polideportivo Sur de Envigado last month.

“We are very happy to start the tournament. We only want the best for our team and hopefully we will do well in the tournament and be able to win it,” Sofia Parea, Cumbres student, said.

TCS Boys Volleyball team played against Cumbres, La Salle de Envigado, and Jomar. In the final match, they faced off La Paz de Envigado winning the last set 28-26.

“In general, we felt very good, we were very confident and really liked that we had an opportunity to play against foreign teams, thank God, we were able to win the final, we played very well until the last set because we were nervous in the last part since we had a lot of advantage and at the end, it stayed 28-24 and I feel that it was an excellent experience,” Cristobal Villegas, TCS Volleyball player, said.

The Boys Futbol team played against Cumbres, Colombo Britanico, Prepa Anahuac, La Salle de Envigado. The team faced Oxford in the final game winning 4-0.

“In the Cumbres Cup tournament we did very well, we were able to win the final, all the team exhibited a remarkable display of hard work and dedication towards the sport.,” Tomas Arrubla, football team captain, said.

The Boys Basketball team played against Benedictinos, Mano Amiga, Salle Bello, and Canadiense, winning each game by a significant margin, securing their spot in the finals. They fell short in the final game against Benedictinos, losing 25-21.

“I saw the team very focused. I saw a much more mature team when it came to playing. Compared to past tournaments we finished the group stage very well going undefeated and first. In the final I think we got a little carried away by our nerves,” Mateo Zarate, TCS Basketball captain, said.

The Girls Basketball team played against Montessori, Cumbres, and Itagui, winning every game becoming the first of group A. The TCS team faced La Salle de Envigado and lost 22-13.

“In the group phase we did very well. There were several difficulties since there were very few players. We played 4 games to qualify. We went first but in the semifinal La Salle de Envigado team eliminated us,” Sofia Gomez TCS Basketball player said.

The tournament was a success for The Columbus School, with Boys’ Volleyball and Futbol teams emerging as champions, they hope to participate again next year.

“ It was a great tournament all the TCS gave it all, we would love that next year we could participate again in international Copa Cumbres, ” Gomez said.
