Carrion’s New Album Bridges Cultural Divide
The Latin Urban scene has been blown away by Eladio Carrion’s new album release 3men2kbron. Carrion is taking his discography to new heights with the release of his sixth album, marking the end of the highly anticipated trilogy of LPs.
Dropped on March 17, the album is a masterpiece of notable bars and powerful lyrics that distinguish Carrion as a standout artist in the Spanish trap scene. With a diverse range of collaborators, including both Latin and international artists, the album serves as a unifying force for the rap community across North and South America, showcasing Carrion’s ability to bridge cultural divides through music.
The impressive list of featured artists on the album is proof of the evolution and impact of Carrion’s long-standing trajectory within the industry, earning him the respect of legendary hip-hop artists.
The album opens with none other than renowned rapper Lil Wayne on “Gladiador Remix,” showcasing the high regard Carrion holds in the hip-hop world. Additionally, on “Sí Salimos,” Carrion hops on an 80s hip-hop beat with 50 Cent, further highlighting the rapper’s versatility and ability to collaborate with artists across different styles and eras.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, at a young age Eladio moved to Humacao, Puerto Rico, because of this, Eladio lived both Latin and American cultures, something that he would display in his new album.
The new project has 18 songs and lasts fifty-four minutes, the most streamed songs have been “Coco Chanel” “Sí La Calle Llama Remix” and “Mbappé Remix”.
In a recent interview with Tidal Music, the artist expressed that collaborating with both Latin American and American artists on his album was necessary. He explained that it’s not common to have the biggest Latin American and American artists collaborate, so he had to make it attractive to them. He also mentioned that Lil Wayne sounds like his 2010 self on the album and 50 Cent sounds like he did on “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” he feels that he got the best of each artist that he collaborated with.
Carrion’s album also includes some of the freshest names in the 2020s rap scene, with songs like “Peso a Peso” featuring rappers Quavo and Rich the Kid “Friends Remix” with Lil Tjay, and “M3” including Fivio Foreign. While “Peso a Peso” feels like a 2015 throwback rap song where each MC has its minute to throw in his best bars, “Friends Remix” is a song that you can just sit and appreciate due to its appealing melodies and vocals. On the other hand, “M3” uses a New York Drill-type beat where both Carrion and Fivio enter aggressively on the track, creating a feeling of explosive energy.
The artist recently stated that he loves rap and considers himself a trap or hip-hop artist. Although he is capable of making reggaeton music, it comes more naturally to him to create music within the trap or hip-hop genre, as those are the beats that he most has in his storage.
One song that was for the numbers was his collaboration with Bad Bunny “Coco Chanel” which debuted at No.87 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is currently his number-one song on Spotify with eighty-two million streams. The song is a prime example of how to top the charts with catchy lyrics and a common reggaeton beat.
Other songs display the artist’s amazing wordplay, with more calm beats specifically created to show Carrion’s versatility with the pen. The songs with the most wordplay include “Haciendo Dinero”, “Quizas, Tal Vez” and “Air France”. In the first twenty seconds of “Haciendo Dinero” Carrion leaves listeners with a deep quote about controlling demons that we have inside: “No es malo tener nuestros demonios si lo reconocemos, malo es convertinos en algo que no somos y lo sabemos, cuando tocamos fondo nos miramos al fondo y nos conocemos.”
Golf is one of the most touched subjects in the LP. Carrion explains that golf has taught him about patience and practice, connecting profoundly to his music. Carrion enjoys playing golf, despite not being very good at it. He sees it as a challenge and enjoys the process of improving. Carrion wants others to understand the joy he gets from golf and sees it as an important part of his life.
3men2kbron stands out from the rest of Eladio Carrión’s discography due to its unique blend of two languages and diverse hip-hop cultures. The album is being hailed as the beginning of a new generation, bringing together different countries and creating music transcending borders. It is a testament to the unifying power of Carrion’s music and a milestone in the evolution of Latin urban music.
“There’s no amount of talent that can outdo someone that practices a lot,” Eladio Carrion.
