As the senior trip to San Andres approaches, the excitement increases with each day that passes by. The trip will be from February 12-16, therefore all the details are being revealed as the students have started preparing according to the activities proposed.
The plans include partying, going to nightclubs, navigating on boats, and many more that the agency has previously prepared. However, there is also a bit of time for resting and eating.
“We go to the San Andres trip with an agency called Seniorsland. From what i’ve heard, this agency plans activities to keep us entertained 24/7. We follow the itinerary, but what seniors like the most is the freedom that we have to do whatever we want.” Sofia Cardenas, senior, said.
A big question many people ask themselves when they hear about this trip is who finances it. The school does not finance this trip. It’s each seniors’ families responsibilities to pay for it, and it’s seniors responsibility if they miss any day of school. However, this does not take away excitement.
“My plans are to have a really fun time, socialize with everyone, especially with those who I don’t talk to often, and make the most out of the last trip with the grade” Mariana Galindo, senior, said.
It has been a school tradition for years that the boys who go on the trip do some sort of crazy haircut. It makes it more exciting, and intriguing to see what they get done. The energy levels are much more higher due to these haircuts. However, this is not the only trend.
“ Although people are free to choose what to wear, one of the day’s outfits includes another tradition where friend groups order matching swimsuits. Not only this but there is a dress code for two nights: white, and black. We are going to see a lot of colors, and the hairstyles for men are going to be very diverse. Some will even do lizards on their hair, with crazy colors and designs, ” Galindo said.
People have high expectations for the trip. However, there have been experiences from past seniors that get to our heads, since many crazy things are prone to happen in these types of environments.
“I’ve heard some outrageous things that they’ve done, and that it’s a little heavy in terms of the partying. However, what is mostly said is how much fun they have and that it was an experience that was totally worth it.” Santiago Gamez, senior, said.
The trip will be important as a community, now that it will bring people closer together, and it is a chance to interact with those you don’t normally interact with.
“My friends and I are excited for this because we can spend more time together as a group, and as a year. Socially, we can get closer to more people and get united as a whole. We can get to know better people who we don’t talk to a lot.” Galindo said.
The San Andres trip is a great experience for all seniors. It is a memorable weekend that they will never forget, and it is something that makes everyone hold more core memories of each other. It’s the best way to end the school life that is coming to an end.
“My plans for San andres are to have fun, spend time with my close friends, and overall just get to experience what San Andres is because I’ve never really been there. I’ve heard that the beach and the ocean is very pretty and I’m just expecting to have a really good time.” Gamez said.
