MS Delegates participate at San Jose de las Vegas UN model with sponsor William Duque in September 2022.

MS delegates are practicing after school in mock committees to prepare for their biggest MUN events yet hosted at TCS on March 8th to 11th.

Students are excited to participate in this year’s COSMUN, and they have been making all the preparations prior to the encounter with their corresponding committees and delegations for the first time.

“I am researching a lot, checking on other resources, and waiting for them to give me my delegation. I am also asking some friends that have been in past models to help me prepare better,” Samuel Mendivelso, Grade 8 delegate, said.

MS delegates that are part of the TCS MUN club have shown great improvement, after having monthly training simulations with other HS delegates and presidents. Here, they learn and gain more experience with the different terminologies and the fields of the rhetoric of the event.

“Grade 7 students started off not knowing much about leadership and oratory. However, through training with the help of William Duque, Grade 7 Social Studies teacher,  the students have become excellent leaders, excellent debaters, and excellent individuals,” Joaquín Perez, Grade 10 TCS MUN Club President, said.

The MUN Club currently has 30 MS members with a large concentration in Grade 7.

“MS students have fewer duties than HS students. Of course, the rates of participation are significantly higher, especially in Grade 7 where we have massive participation and high levels of enthusiasm,” Perez said.

With the recent change in the MUN Club Chair, afternoon training sessions have been introduced. They feature a variety of mock committees which allow students to practice for upcoming models.

“I believe the MS delegation is stronger than ever. They are very motivated to go to training, and are always open to advise which makes them better delegates,” Perez said.

This year will be the biggest COSMUN model in the history of TCS. With a total of 15 committees and even international participants.

“I have very high expectations because last year was very good so I expect it to be even better,” Sofia Montes, Grade 8 delegate, said.

The strength of TCS MUNdelegation was present in the most recent model held at Sagrado Corazon Montemayor, where they received the Best Delegation Award.

“MS delegates, we are the future of COSMUN,” Samuel Mendivelso, Grade 8 delegate, said.
