TCS Grade 8 boys futbol team won the MS Copa Columbus defeating Colegio Alcázares 5-4 on penalties at main soccer field on May 12.

TCS had a complicated Copa Columbus final, with both teams unable to score any goals throughout the entire game, resulting in a 0-0 draw. This led to penalty shootouts, where TCS managed to defeat Alcazares.

“The final against Alcazares was a really close match in which both teams had opportunities to score and change the result. However, neither team was able to finish correctly and score,” Emilio Mantilla, Grade 8, said.

TCS made a comeback in the table by jumping from last place to second due to the difference in goals they made in their last match against Vermont, which finished 4-0.

“At the beginning of the tournament, we struggled, but today we saved the tournament by winning. We discovered that we weren’t really communicating, so we improved in that sense in order to play the finals,” Fabrizio Ranni, grade 8, said.

Juan Martin Ferrer and Emilio Aristizabal, who had prior club experience outside the school like ABC futbol club, stood out during the tournament. TCS included these two younger players in the team due to their experience.

We promoted these kids from a lower category because they make a significant difference on the field. Their training in another club gives them enhanced abilities and composure to play,” Luis Fernando Rodriguez, TCS coach, said.
