Alejo motivates students with enthusiastic teaching. He has had an incredible impact as an educator, touching his learners’ lives both inside and outside of the classroom through enduring patience, versatility, and empathy. Alejo has grasped the essence of education and become a role model for students thanks to his deep passion and thoughtful teaching style.
Alejo’s journey into teaching began with inspiration from his own school years, from his mentors, and the ultimate mentor figure — his father.
“When I was younger, I had very good teachers in my school,” he said. “After working in the industry, I decided that my way is working with students. I feel that I can contribute a little to society, helping students to love dedication, to learn a lot of things, and to discover different ways to be better.”
Reflecting on the most influential figure in his life, Alejo shared, “The most important mentor in my life was my father, who always helped me do my homework while I was in school, and he was always looking out for me. However, now he is not here anymore.”
When asked about his father’s influence, Alejo confirmed the deep impact. “He was very passionate about teaching and very passionate about helping others overcome their difficulties!” he said.
Alejo’s own passion for helping others shines through in his teaching. He creates a sense of comfort and flexibility in the classroom, making learning not only better but simpler. His drive to contribute to society and foster a love for learning has left a clear mark on his students — something his student Juan Romero, a 10th grader at TCS recognizes firsthand.
Romero describes Alejo in one word: “effective.” He added, “Whenever I have a struggle in class, Alejo always gives me the information I need to understand the material. He’s focused on helping students individually, which makes it easier to pinpoint where they need to improve.”
Behind this effectiveness, Alejo credits patience and the strong connections he builds with students.
“I’d say my success in teaching is because I’m a patient teacher. I love teaching, and I love creating connections with my students,” Alejo explained. “For me, this is sacred.”
These connections help Alejo stand out and leave a lasting impression.
“Alejo is somewhat of a psychologist,” Romero noted. “He knows how to incentivize people to trust themselves, which makes them more comfortable and helps with the learning process.”
One story, in particular, stands out in Alejo’s memory as a turning point in his career.
“In the past, I had a student with a lot of trouble in school. The director decided to remove him from school, so he stayed home, bored and without help. His parents contacted me to teach him. At the end of the year, this student had the best grades compared to his classmates. His parents were very grateful, and I realized I was a successful teacher,” Alejo shared.
Alejo’s dedication goes beyond the classroom — it’s reflected in how he tailors his teaching for students who struggle with traditional approaches.
“The main strategy for me is to listen to my students and recognize their difficulties,” Alejo said. “I repeat lessons as many times as they need, offer support at any time, and create connections to inspire them.”
Romero also highlighted Alejo’s adaptability as one of his most valuable qualities.
“Alejo pushes his teaching to guide students to success. When someone is struggling, he adjusts his approach to fit their needs,” Juan said.
When asked what legacy he hopes to leave, Alejo shared his heartfelt wish for his students.
“I hope they remember the passion with which I taught them, the affection I had for them, the respect, the importance of studying, and the love for what you do,” he said.
Alejo’s dedication, adaptability, and empathy make him not only an effective teacher but also a memorable one.
As Juan aptly put it, “He’s a very capable person who’s very good at teaching. If you ever need help with a certain topic, Alejo is the person to go to.”
