The registration survey for next school year will be posted in Schoology during advisory on Thursday, March 17 and students will have one week to complete it.

The High School Program guide containing a video description of each class is posted in Schoology to help students choose their classes. The survey will be similar to previous years, and students decide which elective to join based upon their personal criteria.

There are going to be the same options that we have this year but we’re planning on adding more options for next school year. Much you’re linking,” Juan David Lopez, the high school principal said.

Four new classes will be added to this year’s registration: Entrepreneurship, Data Science, AP Art, and AP Physics II.  THe addition of these classes will provide greater flexibility for students and give them the opportunity to discover areas that they may have never been exposed to before.

We will add four new classes, they are AP physics data science. Additionally, for the first time, we’re going to offer AP art, AP Statistics. We’re changing the name of the class that is called business technology to entrepreneurship,” Lopez said.

The registration for next year’s classes will begin on March 17 and students should complete the survey by March 20.

“Yeah, the survey is going to begin. We’re going to open the survey next week and it’s only going to be open next weekend.” Lopez said.

It’s really important for students to be well-informed as it is critical to know what classes they wish to join next year and that they feel confident with their decision. Although the school allows students to change their courses one or two days after the server is closed, that’s the limit,  since it is a lengthy & demanding process to organize the schedules.

“This is a process that takes a lot of time because we’re going to be having, next year, more than 70 courses that are going to be offered to high school students. Almost every single schedule, especially for the left for 11th and 12th grade, is customized or personalized,” Lopez said.

8th graders passing to 9th and they are also choosing classes. However, 9th graders will not have many classes to pick from since they are just entering high school and still learning the basic required subjects.

“That’s why we’re taking the time to explain to everybody very clearly what the steps are on the courses, so people can make an informed decision. And they don’t change their mind at the last minute. We’re also going to be including in this process a period because they’re coming into ninth grade and the ninth graders will have some choices. So that’s part of the process as well,” Lopez said.

The school is providing students with different tools to make this process more enjoyable. Counselors will be talking with students during different classes to give them the advice to select their electives. On Schoology, there will be available a section for students and parents with videos describing next year’s courses so they can guide students to a better decision based on what they want.

When the moment of choice comes, the invitation is that every student fills the survey consciously so students are going to have time to talk with their teachers, friends, and can solve concerns. ” Ana Isabel Garcia, TCS high school counselor, said.
