For seniors, Halloween is a special time, marking a final chance to celebrate a long-standing tradition before graduation. This year’s senior class continues the tradition with costumes that show creativity and unity. With careful planning and collaboration, the senior class committee has worked to ensure their costume choice meets school rules while also promoting the school spirit.
The senior Halloween costume tradition is a much-anticipated event, symbolizing both fun and unity for students. Each year, seniors create a group costume that follows school rules while still expressing their creativity. This year’s committee faced the challenge of designing a costume that obeyed the school’s guidelines and ensured that all students felt included and comfortable in what they wore.
“We didn’t want anyone feeling left out or offended wearing the costume,” Elisa Arango, a member of the senior costume committee, said. “One of the most important factors was ensuring it was gender-neutral so that everyone could feel comfortable,” Arango said.
Designing the perfect senior costume took time and collaboration between the committee and the school administration. The board had to find a balance between creative expression and following strict guidelines on what is deemed appropriate. Despite the limitations, the outcome satisfied both needs.
“We came up with a couple of ideas, but weren’t 100% sure if they followed the school’s strict guidelines,” Arango said. “But after persistently pursuing the school, we obtained their approval”. ”
The school administration plays a key role in ensuring that the event runs smoothly, with clear expectations for behavior and guidelines. However, the principal doesn’t anticipate any major issues this year, given the seniors’ track record of following the rules and coming together to make the event a success and unforgettable for everyone.
“I don’t anticipate any of the seniors breaking the rule,” Mr. Navarra, the principal, said. “Typically, they all come together and wear the same costume that’s been approved by the school. If anyone does break the rules, we’ll ask them to modify their costume, and if they refuse, they’ll be sent home.” Mr.Navarra said.
As the day approaches, excitement continues to build up. Apart from the costumes, the unique entrance also plays a role in the unforgettable Halloween tradition. The senior entrance, where the entire school celebrates them, is a defining part of the day and something that every senior looks forward to.
“We’ve been talking with the school about unique, appropriate ways to make our entrance unforgettable ” Arango mentioned. “We wanted this year to be different from the rest,” Arango said.
For many, this Halloween brings a mix of excitement and nostalgia. As they prepare to celebrate their final Halloween as students, seniors are aware that this marks the end of an era. Memories from past Halloweens flood their minds, making the upcoming event even more significant.
“It feels weird, kind of nostalgic,” Trinidad Dominguez, senior, reflected. “It’s sad knowing this is my last Halloween in school, but I’m also excited to make it the best one,” Dominguez said.
With their final Halloween on the horizon, seniors are focused on making this celebration a lasting memory. Though excitement fills the atmosphere, the understanding that this will be their final high school Halloween brings a touch of nostalgia. For most, it marks the end of one phase and the beginning of another. Yet, they’re determined to embrace each moment, conscious that life after high school will be different, giving this tradition even greater significance
“When you’re an adult, you don’t celebrate Halloween the same way,” Dominguez, a senior, Said.”I think I’ll forever remember the celebration because it takes us back to childhood. It’s something we may never experience again in quite the same way.” Dominguez said.
