New Basketball Coach Arrives at the Columbus School
The Columbus School High School boys Basketball Team’s new coach, Yuver Hinestroza, started his job in August looking forward to win binationals game and raise the team’s level.
Coach Hinestrosa is just starting the process with the athletes since he started coaching the team at the beginning of the season. The Coach has some experience as he is a former professional basketball player and has coached other teams like EAFIT and INDER.
“I´m just starting a process that another coach had, I’m looking forward for the athletes to play as I want them to play, and stay focused to win binationals games,” Coach Yuver Hinestrosa said.
The basketball team have basics fundamentals and previous knowledge, they are in good conditions for the season, Coach Hinestrosa said. For most athletes, Binationals games is the most prominent tournament of the season, where not only the teams process will be demonstrated, but also the coach processes.
“I think the team is going to be well prepared for the season as the new coach will make us improve our game, since he is really focused on fundamentals and shooting, and with his level of demanding we are going to be able to improve a lot.” Mateo Gomez, the team’s captain said.
The basketball team has switched several times of coach the last few seasons, leaving the team with a training process started. Players initial impression is that Coach Hinestrosa is a really strict and demanding coach and with time he will help the team a lot.
“We ve been switching coach every year, this coach has done a very good first impression, he pushes us to do our best, he has work to improve each players game; he is one of the best coaches we have had in a long time,” Pablo Florez, team’s guard said.
Depending on the day Coach Hinestroza trains the team with different routines. They generally have similar warm up exercises and the rest of the training depends on what happened the day before, either if it was a tournament or just a regular training day.
“The Coach understands more the games and he also demands more technique and shooting, while the other coach was more focused on physics stuff and running, that also helps, but not much as putting the ball in the basket game.” Federico Moreno, teams forward player said.
