The Columbus school unveils an exciting array of art courses that may increase engagement among students interested in amplifying their artistic knowledge.
“This is a great opportunity for young and developing artists,” Rosario Clavio, AP 2D art and design student, said.
Students think that having new courses in the curriculum could not only nurture artistic talents but also promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity skills. Exposure to different art classes helps students discover their passions and talents, opening doors to careers in arts, design, media, and beyond.
“I think other students would be interested in taking them because of their career choices,” Clavijo said.
Do students know about these new art courses added to the curriculum? The TCS community is aware of the new art courses coming up, so all of them have the opportunity to dive into the art course and enjoy these new classes learning more about art and design. This is an opening opportunity for all those students who are interested in exploring their artistic potential and reshaping the cultural fabric of our academic community, amplifying the diversity in self-expression and engagement.
“Yes, I know that the AP 3d art and AP drawing courses will be implemented in the curriculum, I am very excited to continue my journey as an artist through these exciting courses, and I’m happy the school decided to include them in their wide curriculum,” Clavijo said.
Expanding the art curriculum at TCS is an exciting evolution. It’s an opportunity to unlock hidden talents, nurture diverse artistic interests, and empower students with a broader skill set. It’s a journey into creativity that goes beyond the canvas, preparing students for a spectrum of career possibilities and enriching their overall educational experience. Sofia Arcila, the current AP 2D art and design teacher tells us about her perspective on the new art courses implemented
“There was a time when we had a lot of artistic students that wanted to go beyond their artistic talents but there were not enough options for them now with AP 2D art they started going… and want to keep going in their art journey with the new implemented courses,” Arcila said.
As the vibrant strokes of change color the canvas of The Columbus School High School, the introduction of these new art courses marks not just an addition to the curriculum but a transformation of the educational landscape. Through this lens of creativity, students can embark on a journey of self-discovery, developing skills that extend far beyond the studio walls, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of their students. For those who are interested in these new aggregates, Arcila also gives us a little insight into what these new courses are about.
“The AP 2D art and AP drawing are basically the same as AP 2D art, the only difference is the materialization. AP 3D art, the art all has to be 3D such as sculpture, jewelry, and even fashion products, also including furniture and architectural design. In AP drawing, the students will have a greater focus on the principles of drawing which is the relationship between lines and space,” Arcila said.
These courses look promising, they all come with new innovative ideas that may inspire new artists and creators at TCS. Navigating through these artistic realms, AP 3D art emerges as a captivating realm where creativity extends into the tangible realm, encompassing sculpture, jewelry, fashion products, and even architectural design. Meanwhile, the exploration of principles takes center stage in AP drawing, offering students a heightened focus on the intricate interplay between lines and space.
“I’m excited to see what’s next, I’m hoping for the best experience in the new courses implemented,” Clavijo said.
