The Future Of Antioquia Soccer

Federico Peláez is the example of a futbal player who gives his best on the field, and sacrifices in each practice and game. He trains every day of the week for at least two hours and plays  a game every weekend. Because of this schedule and school commitments, he declines to go to parties on Fridays because his priority is soccer. Even though he dedicates most of his time to ABC team, he also lends a hand to TCS middle school soccer team.

Discipline

The Columbus School has many young students athletes that have a great talent, but they don’t get recognized. But Federico is an exception because of his talent and hard work he is known as an excellent athlete around school.

“In my opinion, Federico is a disciplined player.  He trains each day and is never whining or bored of playing,” Mateo Arango, Federico´s friend, said.

Federico´s is a player that always gives his maximum in the field, because of his leadership skills he is considered as a coach on the field. He also takes advice well from his coaches.

“A soccer player in its career need to be dedicated and also discipline when training because in that way, you will become a better player,” Federico, said.

The Beginning

Federico began playing soccer when he was 6 years old in the club Gonzalo Montoya. At the beginning coaches didn’t knew what position to play him, since he excelled at all positions.

“Mostly my mom when I was little was the one who motivates me to played since she always takes me to the places I need to play,” Federico, ABC football player, said.

Traits

A common soccer player have some traits or in other words, characteristics that define his position and style of play. Both Federico’s technical and physical characteristics are best suited for a center-back a position he has played in for most of his career.

“Federico´s most common characteristics are that he is a very technical player when receiving and when giving the ball, and also understand the game very good since he knows when to attack and when to defend being a defender,” Jacobo Hinestroza, Federico´s friend, said.

Friends

When playing soccer, you develop very close friendships with your teammates. But in Federico’s case he developed his strong friendship relationship with his friends from school and not with his teammates from ABC.

“In my team, I have a lot of friends that I have player about one or two years, but my friends that motivate and help me to be a better player and person are Jacobo and Mateo,”Federico, said.

Accomplishments

When you train, and do the things well, most of the times you’ll get desired results. Federico feels his hard work has paid off as he just won the under-13 national tournament.

“The 26 of March, of 2017 was the last final that my team and I won, and was with La Selección Antioquia in Bello Antioquia, it was a difficult final since the rival team manage very good the ball,” Federico, said.

When players become better they start getting scouted by professional clubs. Even they could get scouted by the National team and represent the country at international level.

“I recognized myself as a very disciplined player, and I gave all that I have during each match, we reach the 5th place in La Pony Fútbol,” Federico, said

Character Counts

Being a soccer player brings many responsibilities not only with your team, and school but with your values. Many people look up to soccer players so they need to give a good impression.
